1  General IPv6 Topics / IPv6 Basics & Questions & General Chatter / Re: Wikipedia over v6? on: January 17, 2011, 04:06:46 pm
Yeah I've seen the www.v6.blah or ipv6.blah our main issue is that we have clients on trial and need to be able to test it without forcing users to change their habbit's. We've had google whitelist our DNS servers which has helped alot (ten fold increase in v6 traffic) and now looking at other popular websites to do the same. I've been asked to look into messing around with the dns zones to work around it but thats very dangerious and not good netiquette.

Hey all,

Been digging around trying to find out about v6 access to Wikipedia and the like, Is there a list of DNS whitelisting services around? I'm on the goolge whitelist but would like to get wiki and facebook access without the neeed for www.v6 etc etc. I've found very little information about the status of v6 & wikipedia
3  Tunnelbroker.net Specific Topics / Questions & Answers / BGP Feed - Facebook v6 doesnt work without default route on: December 06, 2010, 09:11:55 pm
Hi All,

Been scratching my head a little, We have a BGP feed from HE.net for v6 and we've been having trouble access www.v6.facebook.com which we resolve as 2620:0:1cfe:face:b00c::3 but we dont see this in any of the bgp routes. When we add a default route to HE.net it works.

We aren't filtering any incoming routes from HE.net, Does FB announce the routes?

Yeah thats what I thought aswell but the only thing I change is the dns server from my test standard bind9/ubuntu10.04 to HE's IpV4 one most testing sites etc detect me as v6

Hey all,

Just been playing around with the tunnel here before we get our /32 routed, I've noticed that if i'm using HE's dns server more dual stack websites default to using v6 whereas my own bind9 (with google zone forwarded to HE's dns) will chuck me on v4 by default. My bind server is handing out AAAA as www.v6.facebook.com resolves via it but I'm wanting to know how HE's dns servers tend to push you onto v6 even when A and AAAA records exsist.

Cheers

Tristram
