I am trying to use the "detect ip" format (like https://user:pwd@ipv4.tunnelbroker.net/nic/update?hostname ) and get back a single word that doesn't sound like anything good ("abuse").

What are the possible returns from this and (if there are different ones) what do they mean?

I know the system is accepting my username and password (by experimenting with bogus ones).

Well the new tunnel endpoint update method should return all the return codes specified by the Dyn DNS Update API.

Well, this is an old thread, but in case anyone else is coming along now, presumably he was getting the 'abuse' return code since he wasn't specifying a tunnel number/name, e.g. update?hostname=10xxx
