Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a product on the market that supports DHCPv6 prefix delegation as a home gateway? That is, it can request a prefix (in addition to an IP) on it's upstream interface and then utilize that prefix on it's downstream interface(s).

I've been searching and searching... can't find anything [yet].

Thanks in advance,
Scott

You would probably need to flash to some sort of open source firmware like DD-WRT or OpenWRT, but even then, I'm not sure if those support what you want.

D-Link just publicly released a new firmware for the DIR-615 revC (fw: 3.12NA) that include prefix delegation support.  I have not yet setup a test configuration to see if it works correctly, but at least D-Link seems to be working on improving IPv6 support.

For those of you with DIR-825 revB or DIR-615 revE, I do not see the updated firmware for those models yet.

Good Luck.

I just clicked on the link from the router page - check for updates, and it said that 3.11NA was still the most recent version.  Has DLINK actually released the new version?

Yes.

http://ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir615_revC/Firmware/dir615_revC_fw_312NA.zip or if you prefer, you can go to support.dlink.com, enter your product model information, choose your hardware revision, and click on the multiple links to get to the firmware.

Note, the forum software does not seem to like ftp uri links, so edit (remove prefixed http colon slashslash) as necessary or use an ftp client of your choosing.

Got it by searching their site (which I did before seeing your reply).

However, whatever they have under "tools", "firmware" still reports 3.11NA as the current version.  Obviously, they haven't put it where the devices expect to find it "automagically."  Stupid D-LINK.
